Happy Valentine’s Day! 😉
I love these hanging hearts because they are the perfect project that can be adapted for any occasion depending on your choice of fabrics. The little pocket is ideal for holding a small gift on Mother’s Day, Christmas, or even at Easter with small eggs…or in this case, a teeny tiny tooth!
First things first. The template can be enlarged to make a larger heart if required. Cut two hearts by placing the template on the fold of the fabric. Then cut one ‘cropped’ heart for the pocket. Press a scant hem along the top edge of the ‘cropped’ heart by folding a hem and then folding it over again.
Place the ribbon along the edge of the pocket, lining it up and stitching along the top edge. Pin the lace in place just under the ribbon and stitch along the top edge of the lace.
Lay one of the heart shapes with the right side up. Place the heart pocket on top with the right side up (as in the photograph above), pin in the middle to hold in place. Lay the second heart on top, right sides together (the wrong side facing you). Stitch around the outside of the heart, leaving a small gap on the side, about 5cm. This is to turn the heart outside in at the end. Snip around the curves of the heart at the top of the heart shape; and at the bottom point without cutting through your stitching.
When you have it turned out, press lightly and stuff with wadding. Hand-stitch the small gap, the hanging ribbon and button decoration…and you’re finished!
I have included the template hereHanging Heart Template
I have also attached the Tooth Fairy Letter. Just trim around the dotted lines and stick to make the envelopes to hold the letter and the gift from the Tooth Fairy. These can then be tucked into the little pocket the teeny tiny tooth waiting for the visit from the Tooth Fairy!
Here’s hoping the links work; if not please contact me and I will email them to you.
